Capacity Building

BIOTA supports the transfer of knowledge by providing training in several topics within its expertise areas. Training can be delivered in distinct formats such as workshops, seminars, environmental dissemination sessions and specific theme-oriented sessions – in person or online. The training content is tailored to the client’s needs and provided by qualified instructors with state-of-the-art expertise to assure a high level of information assimilation.

Oeste+ Science at School

Description of the project: Development of various activities, indoor and outdoor, that encourage children to explore the following themes: Agriculture, Oceanography and Environment. BIOTA developed the theoretical contents that were the basis of each activity. Created the activities, as well as the registration sheets, support manuals, etc.. The elaboration of the manual also counted on a team of pedagogues, who ensured the pedagogical contents.

Training Seminar in Power Generation Environmental Management and Sustainability: Environmental Monitoring of Hydroelectric dams - Evaluation of Ecological Flow Effectiveness in River Lima

Description of the project: The training seminar was directed to GAMEK technical staff. BIOTA’s contribution concerned capacity building on methods to evaluate the efficiency of ecological stream flows, within the scope of the European Water Framework Directive.

Biodiversity Manual of Idanha-a-Nova Municipality

Description of the project: Educational manual aimed at local students, developed on the basis of the collection and compilation of bibliographic and spatial data on flora, habitats, and terrestrial and aquatic fauna, including invertebrates and vertebrates.

Birdwatching Training on Oil & Gas structures in the Mozambique Channel region

Description of the project: Training developed in digital and online format, covering 13 modules addressing topics related to birdwatching and avifauna monitoring on board structures such as FLNG and project support vessels. This training covers all aspects related to avifauna, namely species identification, behaviour, interaction with structures and vessels, influence of weather conditions, as well as observation techniques and equipment.
