Inventory and Conservation Status Assessment of Terrestrial and Freshwater Invertebrates according to IUCN Criteria - Portuguese Red Book of Invertebrates

Description of the project: Assess the risk of extinction of selected species from various groups of invertebrates. The project involves the compilation of existing information on the target species of the project, the assessment of the risk of extinction of target species, according to IUCN criteria and the publication of the Red Book of Terrestrial and Freshwater Invertebrates of Mainland Portugal.

Biodiversity Assessment and Rehabilitation of the FIT-Fomento da Indúustria do Tomate S.A Lagoons

Description of the project: Conversion of artificial lagoons at an agri-food industrial facility, involving the survey of existing natural values (fauna and flora), the identification of target natural values, the design of the interventions to be carried out, and the planning of biodiversity elements to be introduced and restored in the four lagoons subject to intervention.

Description of the project: A provincial-level spatial planning instrument that sets out strategic guidelines and a general framework, translating, at the provincial scale, the National Territory Spatial Planning Main Options. It defines the intended use and occupation of rural and urban land that underpin the overall territorial development of each province, to be implemented through municipal plans and the plans of major cities with special status. BIOTA developed the provincial-scale baseline framework covering the biophysical, historical, socio-economic, administrative, and logistics dimensions.

Bird and Amphibian Inventory in the Sintra Forest Perimeters

Description of the project: The project aimed to characterise the bird and amphibian communities present in the Capuchos and Penha Longa forest perimeters of the Serra de Sintra, in order to generate information to support the development of new habitat management plans and to promote awareness about the conservation of these species and their importance.

Natural Capital Consultancy for José Gomes Ferreira Park and Quinta do Narigão Restoration Project

Description of the project: José Gomes Ferreira Park and Quinta do Narigão were the focus of a natural capital recovery and restoration project. In this context, BIOTA carried out biodiversity surveys focusing on flora and vegetation, vertebrates, and selected invertebrate groups, such as dragonflies and butterflies, so that these primary data could underpin the restoration plan, support the identification of priority intervention areas, and guide the selection of the natural capital values to be restored.
